India’s first “Restaurant on Wheel”

India's first "Restaurant on Wheel"

“Old is gold” goes an old saying. Whatever one has can never go waste. If it’s actual use is done, it can be transformed into something else which will make it reusable.I.R has set a perfect example for this. Indian Railways transformed two Over aged Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) coaches into restaurants at the Asansol Railway station which is a division of Eastern railway, Paschim Bardhaman district, West Bengal. Looking from different angles it will not only make railway passengers happy but will also contribute to economic growth.

It is considered to be India’s first ‘Restaurant on Wheels’. The given name of the restaurant is “Wow Bhojan” and the tea boutique has been named ‘Chai-Chun’.Ministry of Railways said that this unique effort will not only improve the facilities at Asansol station but will also generate non-fare revenue earnings of approximately Rs 50 lakh in the next five years. This is indeed a very good initiative by Indian Railways and is definitely a new innovation and achievement. Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Mr. Babul Supriyo inaugurated it on February 26, 2020. He has also inaugurated two new air-conditioned retiring rooms and an electronic reservation chart display system through MPLAD fund [Members of the Parliament Local Area Development Scheme]) and a battery-operated car.

The chart display will deliver easy access to information regarding the reservation status in different trains which will, in fact, benefit the passengers in the long run. Moreover, the battery-operated car will be very much helpful for the Divyangjan & senior citizen passengers for their comfortable movement at the station area.  The restaurant will be available for railway passengers as well as for the general public. The 2 new air-conditioned retiring rooms which are well furnished with state-of-the-art furniture & other equipment will provide much satisfaction and pleasure to the passengers. According to reports, one of the coaches will serve as a tea and snacks outlet, while the other will be a full-fledged 42-seater restaurant that will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner to railway users and the general public. Thus India has once again proved that the combination of brain and technology can create wonders. “Restaurant on Wheels” is capable of providing comfort in every possible way to us.

Nasa's SunRISE mission

Sun – the supreme source of light has always a matter of curiosity. No one knows what lies in the core of this big star. Many have tried and many have failed to know. Thismysterious and powerful star is the point of attraction for all astronauts and those who have interest in space science.

NASA has come up with a new mission that will study how the Sun generates and releases giant space weather storms – known as solar particle storms – into planetary space. This information will help us to improve our understanding regarding how our solar system works. Moreover it will further protect astronauts traveling to Moon and Mars by providing better information on how the Sun’s radiation affects the space environment and how they must travel so that they remain safe. The new mission, called the Sun Radio Interferometer Space Experiment (SunRISE), is an array of six CubeSats operating as one very large radio telescope.

NASA has granted $62.6 million to design, build and launch SunRISE.Nasa first chose this mission in August 2017 as one of two Mission of Opportunity proposals that will  administer a 11-month mission concept study. In February 2019, the agency approved a continued formulation study of the mission for an additional year. Justin Kasper at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is giving a lead to this mission and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California is managing the whole thing very efficiently. The mission design depends on six solar-powered CubeSats – each about the size of a toaster oven – to simultaneously observe radio images of low-frequency emission from solar activity and share them via NASA’s Deep Space Network. The constellation of CubeSats would fly within 6 miles of each other, above Earth’s atmosphere, which otherwise blocks the radio signals SunRISE will observe. Together, the six CubeSats will create 3D maps to pinpoint where giant particle bursts originate on the Sun and how they evolve as they expand outward into space. This, in turn, will help determine what initiates and accelerates these giant jets of radiation. The six individual spacecraft will also work together to map, the pattern of magnetic field lines reaching from the Sun out into interplanetary space. This is the first time that something like this will happen. It is expected to get launched after July 1,2023.The whole look will have their eye on this mission since it will be a great achievement for all of us and it will surely open new ways to comprehensive our solar system.

Asia' s largest solar plant to be launched soon

Science is developing at a faster speed and new technologies are coming up to make our life more comfortable and affordable. Economists along with researches are working really hard to give us the best and promising facilities that will make our nation more powerful.

Indian Government has been working on a mega plan that can triple the solar manufacturing capacity. It will definitely be beneficial because it will eliminate the need for import from other countries including China. It’s true that if we have the resources then we can create our own things. No need of depending on others. The Indian government had this outlook from the very beginning and had worked hard to execute the plans.

As part of the plan, an accelerated manufacturing plan is being operationalized that is incentivizing setting up of solar cell that has the manufacturing capacity of 4,000 MW which would allow project developers to restrict the import of this product completely. Additionally, 3,000 MW of fresh solar cell capacity is being added under manufacturing linked bids. Previously the current capacity of solar cell manufacturing in India was about 2,500 MW but now in case of solar modules as well, 7,000 MW of capacity is being added. Power minister R.K. Singh had once said that under ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ mission, which was our PM’s dream project, domestic manufacturing capacities will increase rapidly for meeting goals towards import substitution. Once completely executed the plan will not only satisfy our country’s needs but will also encourage export which in turn will bring valuable foreign exchange.

Standing in Country capital Delhi ,Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan of Madhya Pradesh said on Sunday  that the honorable Prime Minister of India,Narendra Modi will launch Asia’s largest 750 MW Rewa ultra mega solar plant which is situated in Madhya Pradesh via video conference on July 10.

According to the reports ,a state government release also quoted that Chauhan has met Union minister of state for energy, R K Singh at his residence in the national capital and urged and requested him to attend the inauguration programme. Not only India but the whole world is looking forward to this project. It is undoubtedly a big achievement for our country.

'MANI' for the visually challenged people

With the advancement and development of new technologies, life is getting easier. In today’ s competitive world everyone has to be up to date. Keeping this thought in mind The Reserve Bank of India has launched an app called MANI app.

It will be very much helpful for visually challenged people. Earlier the blinds had to depend on others for transactions but now ‘MANI’ will help them to identify the denomination of currency notes. After demonetization that happened in November 2016 ,The Central Bank introduced different currency notes under the Mahatma Gandhi series and significant changes were made in size and designs of currency notes. When the banknotes of ₹10, ₹20, ₹50, ₹100, ₹200, ₹500 and ₹2,000 came to the market , many had complained that they were having problems while identifying new notes.

So in order to solve their problem, Mr.Shanktikanta Das the governor of RBI has launched this app on January 1,Wednesday,.’MANI’ stands for  ‘Mobile Aided Note Identifier’. According to the Central bank this mobile app can work offline once it gets installed. No additional internet charged are applied for this purpose. Anyone can download it for free from Android Play store or iOS App Store.

The instructions for downloading the app are given below.

1)Visit the Google Play Store and type ‘MANI’.

(2) Click on the ‘download’ option.

(3) After download, install the app on the mobile phone.

(4)Allow the app to have access to your mobile camera

(4) The instructions to install MANI are audio-based.

The app scans the currency notes with the help of simple mobile camera and produce the accurate result. It can easily identify by checking the front or back portion of the note. Even if the note is folded from any angle the app will be able to recognize it.Many had questions regarding visibility to which RBI has said that it can work in normal day light, low light and in normal light as well. It is also capable of providing audio output in two languages, namely Hindi and English. Additionally, identification of denomination through non -sonic mode such as vibration is also available which in turn helps people with vision and hearing impairment. Since the new Indian banknotes contain several features it enables the visually impaired (color blind, partially sighted and blind people) to identify them, viz., intaglio printing and tactile mark, variable banknote size, large numerals, variable color, monochromatic hues, and patterns. However the app does not guarantee or authenticate whether the note is genuine or counterfeit.
